ABOUT THIS PIECE

The Phantom Warrior is the official mascot of the U.S. Army III Corps, and was originally painted by American artist Frank Frazetta. In 2009, Frazetta's family commissioned a 1.5X life-size bronze version of the painting for permanent installation near the entrance to III Corps headquarters at Fort Hood. In addition to the bronze, two fiberglass versions were also produced — one of which accompanied the army during their 2009-2010 deployment in Iraq. The entire creative process, from the original sculpture to the final installation, was done in-house.
